AI can only recommend businesses it understands.

Having a website isn't the same as having AI visibility.

Everyone is selling GEO and AEO right now.

Nobody's explaining what they actually are, or why it matters.

WHAT'S CHANGED

AI visibility should be the foundation of your digital marketing. Not an add-on.

Here's what happens when it isn't.

01

You're doing the work. It's just not landing the same.

You've spent time getting the website right, running ads, posting on social media: the same things that used to generate enquiries. But the results aren't following the same way anymore, and you just want to know why so you can fix it and get back to running your business.

02

So you keep adding more.

You post more often, rewrite another page, increase the ad budget, try a new platform and wonder whether the whole website needs rebuilding again. Each one makes sense on its own, but the momentum still isn't there.

03

None of those might be the actual problem.

Your website explains your business one way, your Google listing leads with a different angle and your social content shows another side entirely. A customer piecing that together has to do it themselves. Most won't.

04

AI search tools work the same way your customers do.

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers pull from your website, your listings, your profiles, everything written about you online. Different story on each one, and AI hesitates to recommend you. Same story everywhere, and it doesn't have to guess. The fix isn't another marketing channel. It's the foundation underneath it all, pointing the same way.

ABOUT ELAINE

When ChatGPT launched in 2022, it quickly became clear to me that this was more than a novelty tool. I noticed AI chat naturally fit the way people communicate, you could ask the full question, add context and explain what you actually meant, rather than trying to squeeze it into a few search terms. Because it matched the way people naturally communicate, I could see it becoming a tool we would use every day.

The speed of ChatGPT’s adoption only reinforced that.

While everyone around me was saying Google would always be king and fair enough, it still is - I went, frankly a little feral trying to understand what was happening alongside it.

I studied the mechanics, tested prompts, tracked citations and looked closely at why one business was recommended while another was ignored. Not in a vague “AI is the future” way, I wanted to understand where search was heading and what businesses might need to do differently if AI systems were going to play a larger role in how people found and chose them.

That became AI Optimisation, launched in 2025.

THE IMPACT ON YOUR BUSINESS

GEO and AEO, explained without the jargon.

They're two acronyms for the same idea, making sure AI systems can find, understand and trust your business enough to recommend it.

The tactics under each label vary but what AI actually needs from you doesn't change. It just needs clear, consistent, complete information it can rely on.

AI isn't waiting for you to get this right, it's already answering these questions for your customers.

01

Your business is already being assessed by AI

Your customers are already asking AI what to do next and who to buy from. If the signals around your business are unclear, incomplete or inconsistent, AI systems have less reason to include you.

02

Your competitors appear in AI answers

When people ask ChatGPT or Google's AI Overviews who the best providers are in your industry, your competitors show up in the answers, not your business. That usually means AI systems have stronger signals about their expertise.

AI Optimisation helps businesses become easier to understand, reference and recommend

AI Optimisation

OUR FRAMEWORK

The AI Visibility Engine

The AI Visibility Engine™ is the framework developed by AI Optimisation to explain how AI systems interpret, understand, and recommend businesses.

AI systems don’t randomly choose which businesses to recommend, they rely on signals that help them understand who a business is, what it does, and whether it can be trusted as an answer.

The AI Visibility Engine™ maps the five signals AI systems use to recognise, understand, and recommend businesses.

Entity Definition

Entity Definition

Making sure AI systems recognise your business as a distinct, understandable entity, not just a website.

Structured Understanding

Structured Understanding

Organising your information so AI systems can see how your business connects to the topics and services it's known for.

Authority Signals

Authority Signals

Building the citations, mentions and reviews that give AI systems a reason to trust what they've found.

Answer Alignment

Closing the gap between the questions people are asking AI and the content your business actually has.

Answer Alignment
Recommendation Reinforcement

Recommendation Reinforement

Reinforcing those signals over time, so AI keeps associating your business with what it does best.
